Amayra Mohanka is a high school student at the La Martiniere School for Girls in Kolkata. Fascinated by the fertile interstices of economics and literature, Amayra is interested in unraveling how narratives shape our understanding of markets, policies, and human behavior. In July 2024, she enrolled in a course titled “Crafting the Essay” at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, where she was able to hone her skills in essay writing.
Amayra is also a trained taekwondo athlete: she has participated in several national and international competitions, including winning the Gold at the 2023 ITF National Taekwondo Tournaments. In her free time, she hones her musical skills in guitar and western vocals. Her love for reading led her to explore the history of Vrindavan, which is when she realized the degree of ostracization directed at widowed women, prompting her to launch Project DAWN.
